NOVEMBER BALANCE...NOT SO MUCH

November was a pretty crazy month. Greg's work, especially. We tried to sneak in some family time here and there but didn't quite get our fill. Am I a broken record? Probably.
We sneaked in a couple of jaunts to the park to meet up with G near the office. Alcatraz reminiscent. Besides that, the girls and I were busy distracting ourselves from missing G.

Lots of play dates for Zoe, swimming, American Girl Fashion Show, Ava's (Zoe's good friend) birthday partyanother friend's birthday party (nightmare!), the usual dance parties, etc. And, of course, we had Bubbie and Zaydie visiting and readying for Thanksgiving.

I'm also happy to report that we finally got our bedroom painted and blinds installed. It made me very happy. ;-) Dale spent a lot of time at our house this month (painting and various other issues with our very old house). Zoe has a huge crush on Dale; I had to pull her away just to let him get things done. So cute.

BUBBIE & ZAYDIE VISIT!

We are so thankful that Bubbie & Zaydie came for a week long visit this Thanksgiving holiday.A few of the highlights: visiting Zoe's school, two jaunts to the frozen yogurt shop in town (Zoe was very excited to introduce this new Los Altos landmark!), park outing, swim time with the girls, LOTS of playing, and Thanksgiving, of course!

 Two glitches: inflatable bed didn't want to stay inflated and B's back didn't want an inflatable bed! :-(

Lots and lots of pictures! CLICK HERE.

Video as well, of course. ;-) Click below.

BUBBIE & ZAYDIE, COME QUICK!

The girls are just a little excited to see Bubbie & Zaydie. ;-) Take a little preview of the cuteness and silliness! B & Z -- we're counting down! Only 8 more days...

FIRSTS, FLUBBER, FLUENCY & THE LETTER "F"

October was the month of just about everything. We had lots of "firsts" -- everything from holding baby chicks to Ruby's first Halloween (while conscious) to Zoe, the Alphabet Queen, sounding out words.

It was a fun month. The girls were buried in giggles, tantrums, silliness and moments of bliss while:

  1. Visiting The Children's Discovery Museum*
  2. Celebrating friends birthday parties
  3. Baking brownies (I think we made 4 batches!)
  4. Making new friends*
  5. "Girling-out" with manicures and pedicures
  6. Riding horses*
  7. Dancing at ballet class and "dance parties" in the house
  8. Playing with lots of "Flubber" (pic above) and Play Dough
  9. Parenting lots of pretend babies (and dance parties with them as well!)
  10. Trick-or-treating, of course
  11. Pumpkin carving & decorating and cooking pumpkin seeds
  12. Performing at a Halloween show (will update post w/video! some pics linked here though)
  13. Playing with lots of friends (play date city!)
  14. Practicing lots of letters and sounds (Zoe is alphabet-obsessed!)
  15. Showing off with words (Ruby's crazy fluent sporting 8-word sentences throughout the day!)
  16. Going to the Disney Princesses on Ice show
  17. Picking pumpkins and petting/holding baby chicks*
*More on that below

We finally joined The Children's Discovery Museum. I love this place. It's packed with every possible grain of fun you could think of. Bubbles, water play, face painting, gravity... And you get to touch everything. I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be there a lot in the coming year.

Zoe's thriving so much at school and I think (o.k., please don't let this jinx me) we are over the year long "I throw a tantrum every hour" stage! Please G-d! She's doing great with Deily now and my love-bunny is baaaaaack! Fingers crossed. Salt over shoulder.

School is going great for Zoe and she's made a lot of new friends. She says that she is now friends with (from school) Clara, Lauren, Kimi and Amanda and is "getting to know" Gabbie, Bea, and Sophie. ;-) She's such a big girl -- going on drop-off play dates! Children's Center has a strong focus on the kids building friendship/socialization skills which is probably the most important skill to learn right now. And, speaking of learning, it's super fun to see Zoe so excited about school and learning. She loves the alphabet and writing her letters. Each week her class has "Wonderful Wednesdays" where they focus on one letter and the kids bring in a "share item" that starts with that letter. They started with "f." Apparently, new studies show that this is the easiest one to start with. Interesting, right? She's also starting to sound out words and wanting to know how to spell. It's an exciting time for her!

Ruby is also doing fantastic at her school. It's great practice for next year when Mommy doesn't go with her anymore (hard to imagine). And, we've been getting some special Mommy-Ruby time together. She loves all the art projects and learning to ride her bike. She thanks the teacher most days and sometimes gives her a hug. So sweet.

Ruby has inherited my adventurous/dare-devil streak. She's the one jumping off the couch (and trying to jump in the pool) and climbing everything possible. Zoe and I were signed up for a mommy & me horsemanship class but between the smell of the barn and the height of the horse, Zoe was practically running out to hitch a ride home! Deily and Ruby came to our next class 'cause I had a feeling Ruby would jump at the chance to get on that huge horse. She got special permission to ride (the youngest tot they've ever had riding) and would have mounted the horse herself if she had the strength and height. Ms. Rubes was thrilled to be up so high (seriously, this horse was huge for ME!). Her riding helmet was sinking below her eye level at one point and her shoes literally fell off they were so big. Her next lesson we brought her bike helmet and Zoe's old cowboy boots which were still two or three sizes too big but they did the job (it was hilarious to watch her walk in them!). Ruby is simply filled with fun!

We went out to pick our pumpkins and play around in the local Halloween "farm." O.k., it was in a parking lot but there was a lot of hay and animals. And jumpy houses... And a haunted house... We all held baby chicks for the first time (a "first" for all three of us...how cool is that?). I want one except for the fact that they grow up to be big chickens. As Ruby likes to say "I waaaant it! I waaaaant it!"

Halloween was a huge highlight for the kids. This was Ruby's first true Halloween since she didn't understand what was happening last year, I'm sure. It was so fun to see her go up to her very first house (and all the subsequent ones) and say "trick-or-treat." (note: when looking at the pics, the one with Ruby holding a GIANT candy bar and looking happier than someone who just won the lottery is her FIRST house!) And, I'm happy to report that both of my girls said "thank you" this year. Ruby's first year to be able to say it, of course, and Zoe's shyness did NOT overtake her this year (I have a feeling her sweet tooth propelled her). Both of their "thank you's" and "trick-or-treats" were practically inaudible by humans but, that was o.k. One step at a time!

Besides all of the above the only other notable on my end was a raging toe infection that had me popping Advil every few hours (antibiotics did the job). Oh, and I read the Twighlight series. It was gripping! It's been a while since I've gotten so sucked into a book series. I have my calendar marked for the movie (November 20th!). Note to Bubbie & Zaydie -- we are definitely taking you up on babysitting one night so Greg and I can see this movie! ;-)

Greg and I are trying to keep up with our usual schedule plus a sprinkle more. We've taken on an extra project: educating ourselves about the housing market. We've starting looking a bit in hopes of buying something early next year. The amount of remodeling/updating needed for some of these homes is a scary prospect but we think we can find something with solid bones, at the very least. I'm tickled pink at just the IDEA of putting down some roots. More on that saga in the coming months (we hope!).

Here are a bunch of October pictures. If you missed the links throughout, click here for pictures from Disney Princess on Ice, Halloween, and Zoe's Halloween show at school.

Lots of little videos here (all combined in one video below)! Will post Halloween show in another post. Click below and enjoy!

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS

I'm calling this entry "unforgettable moments" but the truth is my disk drive (read: brain) is full and there is just no hope of retaining this stuff. It's these little ditties that hug our days and I know they'll be gone forever if I don't preserve them somehow. Here are a few that haven't jumped out of my brain yet (in no particular order):

Ya Gotta Do What Ya Gotta Do

During a moment of discipline, I announced to Zoe “if you continue this behavior you’re going to lose more and more of your favorite things” (I had already kidnapped her new favorite stuffed animal Tanis, her stroller and favorite doll, Kit). Her reply to my threat was “ya gotta do what you gotta do!”

Zoe, You Fall Down?

Zoe had a pretty scary fall down the stairs a couple of months back. Within three hours I had banisters installed! Ruby kept asking Zoe about it “Zoe, you fall down?” she’d ask. Zoe kept telling her “Ruby, don’t worry, I fell down the stairs but I’m o.k. now. I cried a lot but Mommy caught me and I’m o.k.”

Boo Boo City

Ruby had her share of bumps and bruises as well. She’s a bit of a maniac. Any chance she sees to take a dive or a jump she goes for it. So we had lots of boo boo packs, falls off the bed, hard hits to her head on the coffee table and much more. “I fall down! I fall down, Mommy” was a constant phrase. And, of course, any time Zoe gets a boo boo, Ruby dances over to proclaim that she too has a boo boo in the same spot and also needs an ice pack.

Butter, Please!

Ruby has had a peanut butter obsession for the last few months. I used to get her from her cribby in the morning and her first pronouncement was “I want Sissy” or “the flies woke me” or “the birds woke me” or “daddy working?” or “I want daddy.” That ended abruptly once she had the taste of peanut butter. When I’d get her in the morning she begged, “I want butter, Mommy! I want butter!” followed by a hint of whimpering. The peanut butter obsession has now calmed down, thank goodness.

Lost: Baby Giraffe!

Ruby’s entourage has grown (see "Our Jewel Flower is 2"). Unlike Jiffy, Baby Giraffe (also known as “Squishy Jiffy”) is not a twin, triplet or quad. This, of course, is frightening given the fact that Baby Giraffe must be available at all times or we hear painful screams of need “I need my Baby Giraffe!,” “Where’s my Baby Giraffe!,” Get my Baby Giraffe!” We found out what happens when Baby Giraffe takes some alone time and disappears for a while. Every night and naptime she’d lay in her bed saying “Baby Giraffe, where are you? Where are you, Baby Giraffe?” It was the cutest and saddest thing ever. Baby Giraffe was uncovered about a week after her disappearance, hiding in my jacket pocket. You’ve never seen such excitement.

Good Morning, Sweetheart!

Zoe has taken to greeting Ruby in the morning before I make it downstairs. I get Ruby’s milk ready (yes, we’re still heating it!) while Zoe dances down the steps to wish Ruby a good morning and let her know that I’m on my way. It’s too cute to hear them on the monitor. Zoe starts off with her good morning wishes to Ruby. It goes something like this: “hi sweetheart. It’s o.k. Don’t worry, Mommy will be down soon…she’s just getting your milky!” That’s followed by lots of silliness (probably Zoe making funny faces to Ruby) and tons of giggling. So sweet!

The Cleaners

Every couple of weeks the cleaners come. We can usually count on Ruby being scared and upset when they come. Ruby is starting to get used to them now. The last time they were here she said hello to everyone and told me “I no scared anymore, Mommy. I talk to the cleaners!”

DODO'S BABY BOY IS HERE!

We've been anxiously awaiting the birth of Dodo's little baby boy and he's finally here (born on Tuesday, October 27th -- a few days early)! His name is David and he's a healthy and GORGEOUS (no big shocker!) baby. Dodo had a smooth and effortless birth (jealousy is consuming me!) and is resting comfortably. David is a sprinkle over 7 lbs. and 20 inches. He's perfect. (And Dodo looks gorgeous! I remember being green for four days?)

We sprinted to the hospital to meet David today. It was so fun to hold him and the girls were soooo excited to meet him. We've been talking about it for so long.

Ruby looked at the baby but she was mostly interested in jumping on the furniture (shocker!). And falling off, of course. That was fun.

Zoe was high as a kite. She couldn't wait to hold David. In typical Zoe style, she didn't say much ('cause it was all too new) but she loved holding him and "petted" him quite a bit. At bedtime we always talk about her favorite part of the day. Tonight she didn't hesitate for a nanosecond. "...going to the hospital to hold David and see Dodo" she giggled.

Congrats to Dodo and Mac. David chose well!

CATCHING UP IN A CHINTASTIC WORLD!

If the last 2 months of my life were a movie and I picked a name for this crazy film it would be Catching Up In A Chintastic World. Chintastic -- as in fantastic, crazy, busy and on the border of being completely overwhelming. It's amazing how my to-do list never ends and the days are always three hours too short.

It was the same scenario when my work was in an office. The inbox was always overflowing and the phone calls and emails never seemed to slow down. Of course now, my inbox is my never-ending to-do list and the phone calls and emails are a small addition to the shirt tugging and screams for “Mommy!” I wouldn’t trade it in a zillion years but I wouldn’t turn my nose up to a weekend “off” either. But, I digress…

Back to the “catching up” part… I missed giving much of an update in August and September (besides birthday celebrations). It got lost somewhere in between finishing up with camp, our anniversary, saying goodbye to Dodo, Zoe and Ruby starting school, doctor visits (lots of them), swimming, car servicing, getting a handle on our finances (arrrgggh!), play dates, museum outings, arts ‘n crafts days, dance parties, playing "beauty salon", friends’ birthday parties, date nights, bills, insurance, taxes, visits from friends and family, transitioning a new nanny, Zoe behavior issues, Ruby’s unusual skin problems, losing Zoe’s nap 100%, signing up for fall classes, haircuts, “girl’s night out”, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, concerts, house hunting, park outings, swine flu vaccine research, farmer’s market outings and just a couple of errands (not!). And that silly list flew off the keyboard with little thought so I know I’ve forgotten no less than five hundred other things.

So, there you go. A small window into what we’ve been up to. Here’s a little more detail on a few things that beg for more text:

Ruby’s Infamous Doctor Visits
In August, I sat in the office at urgent care while Ruby ran around giggling with giant red hives all over her body (red, then blisters, then scabs as they healed). The Doctor announced that she had chicken pox and cleared the waiting room before we could exit.

That was followed by a mad rush to think of anyone who could have possibly been in contact with Rubes and passing on detailed instructions on what to do. This was all a little hard to swallow for a pro-vaccine Mommy. Apparently 6-8% of kids can still get chicken pox even with a vaccine. It was possible. Who knew?

My doubts lingered... It wasn’t until a month later when Ruby woke up with the same exact problem that I knew the sequestering was a big fat waste of time. That kick started more doctors and more diagnosis’ than I wanted. The truth is that we still don’t know for sure but the best guess is viral-related hives, Papular Uticaria (essentially, an allergic reaction to bug bites) or a case of bed bugs (yes, getting the house inspected is on my never ending “to-do” list).

And if all those doctor visits weren’t enough, Ruby also got an infection in one of her bites (at a different time). She scratched so much and got bacteria inside (probably from her nail) and the next morning she woke with a giant foot with swelling inching up her shin.

And you’d think that would be the end of doctors (besides her 2 year check-up). But, nooooooooo! Ruby astutely figured out that if she can’t get a lollipop from Mommy then the nice doctors and nurses will give them to her. G-d this girl is smart.

Ruby kept begging for a lollipop and when I wouldn’t give in, she suddenly had really bad ear pain. “An infection?” I thought. “I better run that monkey to the doctor right away,” I announced. Well, on the ride there, not only did she have bad ear pain (“My ear bother me, Mommy! My ear bother me, Mommy!”) but her back, arm, eyes and nose hurt too. Can you say “s-u-c-k-e-r”? After the doctor squeezed us in for a last minute appointment, I had to announce that my daughter was faking. Ears, nose, eyes and back were all in perfect working order! But, guess who got a lollipop? On the way home Ruby announced, “I love going to the doctor, Mommy!” End of story.

Zoe: Transition City
Zoe has had countless transitions the last few months. Let’s just say it hasn’t been the easiest time for our little peanut butter crunch.

When we filled in Zoe’s “personal trainer” about the upcoming changes (losing Dodo, Deily starting, new school and a possible move), she warned us that we may be in for a rough ride and held back her “graduation” until she is able to follow up post transition (almost there).

Our beloved Dodo had to stop working since she has a bun in the oven (due Halloween). She is a great friend and super soft place for our girls to fall and we already miss her soooo much!

While Ruby is beyond in love with Dodo, Zoe and Do have a very special relationship. Losing Dodo was particularly painful for her. Inevitably, we all lost our daily Dodo doses (although we see her regularly!) but we welcomed Deily to our family. Zoe gave Deily a pretty hard time for a good 3 ½ months, at least. It’s only very recently that Zoe has started to accept our new friend.

Zoe’s way of dealing with all the change came out in…well, let’s just call it “behavior challenges!” We’ve had lots of tantrums and “fresh face” talking. And, well, endless glares of disdain towards poor Deily. I’m happy to say that Deily has stuck with us through the worst of it and we are all seeing the light. Fingers crossed.

At the height of all this madness, Zoe started at a new school – Children’s Center in Los Altos. Zoe was pretty stressed about it (in tears the night before her first day). My heart broke. We stayed up late that night talking about it – well, I talked and she listened. I told her that she could tell me anything and to just let me know if she wants to talk more. The next morning she told me “Ya know what we were talking about last night? I’m ready to talk about it again, please.” You hope they are listening to you. You hope they are taking it all in, writing mental notes and filing it all away somewhere. I got my wish.

Greg took Zoe to her first drop off day of school. While I feel like I do a fairly good job with the Mommy stuff, I know my weaknesses. My girls crying is my kryptonite. So, I gave the hard part to Greg. (Thank you, babe, for being our rock!) And, guess what? She did great! No tears (she choked them back when she said goodbye to me at home). No jumping for joy either but that started only days later. Zoe loves school more than ever!

Her teachers are Mrs. Hixon and Ms. Mungaray and one teacher’s assistant, Ms. Sickler. There are about 21 kids in her class and she goes Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I heart my Chintastic world!

OUR JEWEL FLOWER IS 2

It's a Sunday afternoon... Ruby is sleeping and Zoe is working on her "laptop," practicing her letters. Just like Mommy. I'm finally catching up to Ruby's birthday pictures and struggling to remember where my last two years have gone. In a flash my baby went from sleeping all day to dare devil jumper. Come on!

I'd prefer to use the "pause" button so no one has another birthday. Instead, I was forced to move forward with plan B and we marked Ruby's big day with another momentous event. We introduced her favorite animal, the giraffe (AKA - Jiffy).

We chose the Oakland Zoo where Grammy & Pa, The Levy and Dobrenski families met up with us. Our day was filled with: heat, sugar, animals, fun, sugar, rides, fun, animals, and more heat. It started with a sprinkling of frustration and melt-downs -- tons of fun in the middle -- and pretty much came full circle. In other words, a success with a 2 and 4 year old.

Ruby enjoyed meeting real-life Jiffys. (YouTube is great but sometimes you need to see the real thing to capture the magic.)

Besides the giraffes, the "Ruby highlights" included the camels, elephants and monkeys.

Ruby's fascination with giraffe's started with her lovey, Jiffy (no longer available...ugghh!). It was originally Zoe's but she never gave it a second look. It was one of the few stuffed animals that I actually purchased (so many gifts!)...I couldn't resist it...so sweet and soft.

So, when Ruby entered her cribby castle, once again I added the not-yet-named lovey to Ruby's crib. As soon as she had the ability to reach and hold, it was in her grasp. She hasn't let go since. Pretty quickly the lovely was named by Mommy 'cause how long can you ask Daddy to find the "yellow giraffe blanket thing?" We now have 4 Jiffy's which are regularly rotated and Ruby asks for a "fresh Jiffy" when hers gets dirty.

Not surprisingly, I've started reading a bit about giraffes. I know the questions will be coming very soon. Ruby has a few things in common with Jiffy:
  • South African roots
  • Height (18 ft. for Jiffy and Ruby's on track for 5 ft. 6 in....so close)
  • Mommy's milk (10 months for Jiffy; 12 months for Ruby)
  • Tongue is blue-black (Jiffy to prevent sunburn; Ruby after a blue lollipop)
  • Distinct markings (Jiffy's spots; Ruby's big blue eyes and gorgeous everything!)
  • Leaves (Jiffy likes to nibble; Ruby likes to collect)
  • Magnificent creatures!
So, really, they're soul-mates. ;-)

And, if we weren't convinced enough about Ruby's fated connection to giraffes, it was cemented after lunch at the zoo. The girls got a kid's box lunch which included a surprise toy. Zoe's toy was a polar bear and Ruby's was....drum roll please....a giraffe. This tiny, .25 cent rubber toy has not left her hand since. She sleeps with it, bathes with it and kisses it throughout the day. I shudder at the thought of losing this one.

You can also see more pictures from Ruby's birthday weekend here. We celebrated a morning with chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, the park before nap and ice cream cake and presents in the evening.

ONE WEEK, TWO DIRECTIONS

It's not often we get visitors, or "visit" for that matter. But somehow, in one week's time, Greg went to Alaska; Karen (w/delicious family in tow) came to California; and Andrew traveled back from Ketchikan to the Bay.

Time With Andrew...

As soon as Greg finished a long period of "work madness" he flew off to Alaska. He spent time with Andrew and the rest of the Magnificent 7 South African swimmers in Ketchikan. While they braved the Alaskan cold waters for a swim race, Greg hitched a ride on a boat and took in some sun. Fishing. Eating (sashimi at its freshest!). Swimming with phosphorus'. Air tour. Drinking. Bonfires. That's what I know. :-)

Andrew flew back to the Bay with Greg. It was great to see Andrew and for him to finally meet the girls. I don't think Zoe ever spoke to him (shocker!) but Ruby eventually warmed up as the afternoon progressed. Spent a little time in Sausalito...a few ice creams and a walk later, we grabbed dinner and drove back to San Francisco. All too brief...

The Other Zoe (& Jonathan & Karen & Molly)

While Greg was eating fresh sushi and taking a dip in the cold Alaskan water, the girls and I were having fun with Karen, Jonathan, Molly and Zoe S.

The girls put on a super cute "Jelly Show" where they created a picture, showed it off and explained the "story." Super cute and Zoe's first official "performance."

Another day we met the Sepsenwol crew at Pier 39 in San Francisco. We cheered on jumping maniacs, Molly & Zoe S.; caught a magic show; watched the seals (cool but stinky); looked for things to "win" (Zoe didn't like the prize choices! Who's picky?); and bought SERIOUS amounts of candy. Needless to say, nobody wanted to go home.

ZOE IS 4!

I ca
n't believe my little girl is 4 years old. Was I not just swaddling her yesterday? She went from teether to stylist in mere moments.

We opted out of the big birthday bash this year. With both girls suffering terribly from princess fever, we thought it best to get them to the Disneyland treatment center instead. More on that in the fall...

In the meantime, we had plenty of celebrating old-school style. Zoe told everyone that she is having a "...three day celebration!" (CLICK on "Day 1" or "Day 2" below for related pics)

Day 1: a visit from Grammy & Pa -- park, dinner and a special princess/barbie cake I more than happily slaved over for a day and a half.

Day 2: a fantastic "princess play date" with her two best friends, Clara and Alison. It was super sweet, fun and a lot less exhausting than past extravaganzas (thank you JH!)!

Day 3: a special cupcake to bring to camp!

Zoe came over to me several times over the weekend, gave me a big hug and told me that this was "the best birthday EVER!" Now, considering she has only had 4 birthdays and two of them she likely doesn't remember, I shouldn't get too carried away. Buuuut, I will anyway. There was nothing better than seeing her have so much fun. Love it. Love it. Love it! Note to self: simple works.

JULY, BUT WHY????

July has been packed with fun and a lot of questions from Ruby and they all start with "Why?".

Here are a few of the highlights from July:

Ms. Zoe is very into...
  • Matching outfits with Ruby;
  • Being my helper/assistant;
  • "I'm totally into fashion...";
  • Barney ("I learned it on Barney!");
  • Lots of talking on the phone ("What are you doing now? What are you doing later?");
  • Her first big girl "ride" at Train Town all by herself;
  • Swimming;
  • Wanting a dog...and telling everyone that we're getting one REALLY soon (we're not!);
  • The Charlie & Lola books and TV shows; and
  • Riding her big girl bike (video below).
Zoe also sadly lost her first pet -- a fish named Flower who she loved more than lollipops (and that's a lot!). We found a pretty box for her and gave her a lovely burial with all the trimmings (a special rock, stick, flower and a picture and message from Zoe). In all seriousness, I never thought I'd spend so much time in deep philosophical discussions about death, G-d and heaven with my almost 4 year-old. Flower has been replaced by Finny, a lovely boy fish who gets a lot less attention than his predecessor.

Ms. Ruby Tuesday is very into...
  • Saying: "But, I want it!" or "I need it!" or "But, why Mommy?" or "'Cause why, Mommy?";
  • The birds and Flies waking her up;
  • Announcing she has a poopie!;
  • Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!
  • Doing everything herself!
  • Asking for a "Mommy Hold" (wonder where she gets that from? mmmhhh...);
  • Having a boo-boo as soon as Zoe gets one (same exact place and everything...the odds!);
  • Pretend talking on the phone;
  • Bandaids, in general; and
  • Stickers!
Ruby also got Chicken Pox (yes, she was immunized!) which shocked us, but, apparently kids still get this even with immunizations. Who knew? Luckily, no itching, no "sickness" involved...only the little "pox" to mark their visit. No scars! ;-)

Greg and I are really into...
  • Juggling (life);
  • Thinking about moving (and looking around a bit) into a house that's closer to town with room for another monkey (if we so choose...no news!);
  • Working. Working. Working.;
  • Getting the new iphone w/video (Sam) and getting Sam's old iphone (Greg); and
  • Trying to get our "date nights" back on track!

STARTING ANEW... AND, FATHER'S DAY 09

A false start if I ever had one...

I finally took the plunge and combined my photo/text blog (old school, Shutterfly Share Site) and video-only blog into one true, “official blog." And, what happened? It got deleted by Blogger. So, here I go trying to remember what I posted and to do it again quickly. There’s nothing more boring than re-inventing the past.

Here's a super quick recap of Father's Day 2009:

Fantastic time at Vesona Park where we picnicked ("we must do this all the time" says Zoe) and took over the playground.

Super fun and relaxing. Click here for a few pics.

And, this is a sweet video of Greg and the girls.

Finally, take a peak at my Father's Day gift to Greg this year. He announced that he'd run into the house if it was burning down (and we were out) to get this video. I told him not to since we can just order another one online. But, you get the idea... ;-)
